The best psychological thriller I have read in a while. 📖🖤
This read follows Chloe, a child psychologist based in Baton Rouge. Ironically, Chloe is haunted by her own childhood in small-town Louisiana, in which a serial killer that targeted teenage girls, one of which was her close friends, held a sinister cloud over her hometown and upbringing. Things really start to crumble when her own father eventually confesses to the killings & is sentenced to life in prison.

20 years later, Chloe tries to put her past behind her, living a happy life with her new fiancé and a successful career until similar murders start occurring in Baton Rouge. One of Chloe’s patients is killed along with several other young women in Baton Rouge. The book weaves in Chloe’s childhood memories as she takes it upon herself to try to figure out who is committing the murders. The killer may be someone closer to Chloe than she thinks. 🔪
This book gave me Woman in the Window vibes - I loved that while the main character was somewhat unreliable, I still found her insights & instincts believable. It’s the kind of book you will read in a day & stay up late to finish. 📚
The book is being developed into a series on HBO Max with Emma Stone as the lead which I can not wait for! 🙌
I got very excited turning to the author bio & seeing that @stacyvwillingham is a SCAD Writing Grad Alum. Super inspiring as I would love to write a book in this genre someday! 🐝
Check it out for a page-turner that will not disappoint! I was completely invested up until the last page & cannot wait to read more from this new author! 📄
